Pie Case Packing

The lack of labor and increased demand on food manufacturing is placing incredible stress on production teams around the country. The robotic cell in the video below was born out of the necessity to increase production as well as decrease the risk of labor not being available on a daily basis.

The system is handling 5lb Costco pies and presenting them to two ABB irb robots. The team at Kaitech developed special end of arm tooling utilizing vacuum and a mechanical assist to ensure a perfect pick on the product. A Lantech case erector and case sealer present boxes for the robot to load 50 pies per minute.
